On September 28th, award-winning singer-songwriter, Richie Supa debuts his powerful new music video for “I Got This”.  Set your calendar to share the full-length video to help spread the message of how addiction and the Opioid epidemic is taking over our nation.

Everyone has been touched by addiction in their lives, family, friends, loved ones, by supporting our efforts you are helping give voice to those who are struggling.

Our goal at Face the Music and Recovery Unplugged is to provide assistance; financial, educational, emotional and most important through the music, to those suffering. Your support in sharing this video will help us save lives.

Acclaimed songwriter and Recovery Unplugged Director of Creative Recovery, Richie Supa has penned yet another powerful and resonant track about addiction, this time focusing on the major role that denial often plays in the treatment and recovery process. In less than three minutes, “I Got This” manages to perfectly encapsulate the true power of denial and the dark and desperate places it can take us if we let it. The painfully autobiographical piece takes a tragically tongue-and-cheek look at substance abuse, while managing to instill a message that a better life lies beyond the next fix. What is, perhaps, most resonant about the piece is the way it perfectly illustrates the foolishness of denial and the excuses we often make when where in the throes of substance abuse.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration estimates that of the over 23 million Americans that fit the criteria for drug or alcohol addiction treatment, less than two million actually get help each year. Of the primary drivers of this discrepancy is denial. After a while, many of us will do almost anything to make it look like we’re in control, even when we clearly aren’t. Eventually, we end up lying to ourselves and the people around us until it becomes too much to bear. This level of desperation can only lead to one place…an early grave with a loss of dignity along the way, and that’s exactly what Supa so perfectly conveys in this song and the accompanying video.

Although “I Got This” sports a decidedly breezy and leisurely tempo, and an overall happy-go-lucky feeling, its subject matter is anything but lighthearted. Few, if any, songs up to this point so successfully portray the powerful role that denial plays in the everyday of life an active substance abuser. The “I Got This” music video will be making its world premier on Thursday September 28th at a special reception right here at Recovery Unplugged.
