As we mark the 1-year Anniversary of Jacob Burdette, we want to re-share with you our post from last year in the hopes that you’ll continue to support us in Jacob’s name, in our battle against addiction…
On September 11th, Jacob Burdette, musician, devoted son and former client at Recovery Unplugged Austin Treatment Center, lost his five-year battle with addiction at the tragic and unthinkable age of 22. Jacob’s kind, outgoing and generous nature was felt by everyone he encountered, and was matched only by his passion for music. A talented and dedicated drummer, Jacob’s life was spent making brilliant, beautiful and unforgettable music for the people he loved and who loved him back. His passing leaves a permanent hole in the hearts of his family, his friends and all the people he touched, and reminds us all that addiction can affect even the brightest and most vibrant spirits.
To honor Jacob’s memory, and to ensure that more and more people who are engaged in the struggle of addiction get the help they need, his family has set up a treatment scholarship fund in his name through Face the Music Foundation. They want to ensure that Jacob’s legacy includes helping as many people as possible find their way to recovery and a better tomorrow. Jacob loved music and he loved helping people: the two primary pillars of the Face the Music Foundation mission. “If anyone else can be helped in Jacob’s Memory, then we will have distilled some sense of meaning from losing our beloved son.”
Your contributions will help strengthen this effort, solidify Jacob’s legacy, and give help and hope to the millions of people struggling with alcohol and other drugs.
